A Heartfelt Tribute to a Beloved Brother, Veteran, and Community Member
With a heavy heart, we share the passing of Kermit David Cottle, 68, of Reedy, West Virginia, who departed this life on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston. Known to many simply as David, he was a man of quiet dignity, unwavering loyalty, and deep-rooted values that shaped every chapter of his life.
Born on October 7, 1957, in Elizabeth, David was the son of the late Kermit and Evelyn Woodyard Cottle. He carried their legacy forward with humility and strength, touching lives through his work, his service, and his steadfast presence. David spent years serving the Roane County Board of Education and later worked at Monarch Rubber, where he was known for his reliability and work ethic. Beyond his professional life, he proudly served in the West Virginia National Guard in Spencer, exemplifying his commitment to community and country.
David’s life was marked by quiet acts of kindness and a deep sense of responsibility. He was a brother, a friend, and a neighbor who never sought the spotlight but always showed up when it mattered. He is survived by his loving sisters, Hazel Cottle of Spencer and Roberta “Bobbi” Stoddard (Michael) of Madison, Alabama, who will carry his memory with them always. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe and Robert “Rock” Cottle, with whom he now rests in peace. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation or formal services. David chose cremation, a reflection of his simple, thoughtful nature. Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer is handling the arrangements with care and respect.
Though he may no longer walk among us, David’s legacy lives on—in the lives he touched, the values he upheld, and the quiet strength he embodied. May we honor him not only in memory but in the way we live: with integrity, humility, and love.
With deepest respect and remembrance,
