A Life of Dedication, Faith, and Quiet Strength
With a heavy heart, we honor the life and legacy of Robert D. Freeman Jr., affectionately known as Robbie, who passed away on November 5, 2025, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. Surrounded by his loving family, Robbie departed peacefully after a brief illness at the age of 63.
Born on April 10, 1962, Robbie was a man whose life was defined by hard work, loyalty, and deep faith. For nearly four decades, he served as a machinist at R&D Metal Fabrication, a family business where his skill, dedication, and quiet leadership earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike. Robbie’s commitment to his craft reflected his character—steady, reliable, and always willing to lend a hand. Robbie was deeply loved by many, and his absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him. His warmth, gentle humor, and unwavering support made him a cherished presence in the lives of his family and friends. Though we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his Lord and Savior in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Freeman Sr., and his sister, Penny Harbison. Robbie is survived by his devoted son Corey Freeman and daughter-in-law Olivia; his mother, Peggy Brown-Walden; sisters Pam McCann (Dewayne) and Christy Nolen; brother Steven Nolen (Kelli); stepmother Charleen Freeman Thomas; and a host of nephews who will carry forward his legacy. He also leaves behind his beloved companion Marlene Highfill and his faithful dog, Cracker Jack—both of whom brought him joy and comfort.
Robbie’s life was a testament to quiet strength, enduring love, and the kind of faith that uplifts others. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the love that continues to surround his family.
The family will hold a private service at a later date to honor Robbie’s life in accordance with his wishes.
With heartfelt sympathy and enduring respect,
