A Final Journey of Faith, Service, and Unbreakable Bond
With a heavy heart, we mourn the tragic loss of Alexander Wurm, 53, and his daughter Serena Wurm, 22, who perished in a plane crash on Monday morning in Coral Springs, Florida. Their lives were taken while en route to Montego Bay, Jamaica, where they were delivering aid in response to Hurricane Melissa—a mission rooted in compassion, faith, and service.
Alexander Wurm was the founder and CEO of Ignite the Fire Ministry, a Christian organization devoted to empowering youth through missions and evangelism across the Caribbean. His leadership was marked by unwavering dedication, spiritual conviction, and a deep love for humanity. Serena, his daughter, shared in that mission, embodying the same courage and selflessness that defined her father’s life. Their final journey together was a testament to their shared values—a father and daughter united in purpose, driven by a calling to serve others in times of need. The crash occurred around 10:20 a.m. near the Windsor Bay community, where their plane, a Beechcraft King Air, tragically went down. Surveillance footage showed the aircraft striking trees before crashing into a lake. Emergency responders worked tirelessly at the scene, and later confirmed the heartbreaking loss of both lives. No one on the ground was injured.Alexander is survived by his wife and two children, including Serena’s brother, who now faces the unimaginable grief of losing both a father and sister.
