With a heavy heart, we share the passing of John Wesley Lowary of Groton, South Dakota, who died on Sunday, November 2, following a devastating vehicle accident that occurred on Wednesday, October 29. Mr. Lowary was 67 years old.

According to preliminary reports from the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Mr. Lowary was driving a 2017 Toyota RAV4 along U.S. Highway 12 at approximately 9:30 a.m. when his vehicle veered into the south ditch and collided with a power line pole. He was transported to a hospital in Aberdeen with life-threatening injuries and, despite medical efforts, passed away several days later. Authorities confirmed that Mr. Lowary was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. John’s sudden and tragic death has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was a respected member of the Groton community, known for his quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family and friends. His passing is not just a loss to those closest to him, but to the broader community that benefited from his presence and contributions.
